Join the Nantucket Women On Wheels for an epic adventure-cycling challenge, featuring dirt, seasonal, and challenging primitive roads in the heart of the Battenkill Valley of Upstate New York & Vermont.

  • To be held under local permit with the Village of Cambridge, NY

Non-Competitive Event Format:

  • Race if you want, or not - see you at the finish line with a beer! (21 & older only)

  • 'Rules of the road' only - all riders must obey local and state Vehicle and Traffic Laws throughout the ride.

  • Individual start / non-mass, rolling starts

  • Self-timed - results via Ride with GPS only

  • New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has listed several states as under a restricted travel advisory for individuals traveling into New York State. Please see the current advisory here.

  • 500 rider limit!

 

Covid-19:

  • Individual / non-mass rolling starts - riders will start during a 2-3 hour start window

  • 100% outdoors

  • All current NY State Covid-19 Guidelines for outdoor events will be followed.

REGISTRANTS IN THE EVENT MAY BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A PRE-EVENT COVID-19 SCREENING

  • Register on the RWGPS Event Page

  • Record your ride on the RWGPS App or upload your results - RWGPS app will record MOVING TIME ONLY! No penalty for stopping at aid stations, etc. -- download the app here.

  • Time clock available at the start/finish

 

Course Details:

The Great North is an adventure-challenge ride that travels on the paved, gravel, and primitive back roads of theBattenkill Valley Region of New York & Vermont.

  • You may have to dismount for the more challenging, primititve road sections.

  • Helmets are required.

  • Riders must obey all traffic markings and signs

  • Full Distance - 75 miles / 6500+ ft / 70% gravel

  • Mid Distance - 50 miles / 4500+ ft / 65% gravel

  • Mini Distance - 25 miles / 1700+ ft / 30% gravel

  • Me-no-like-Gravel - paved option - 28 miles / 1500 ft / no gravel

Start Time Windows:

  • 75 Mile - 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM

  • 50 Mile - 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM

  • 25 Mile - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

  • 25 Mile Unpaved - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM 

Recommended bicycles:

  • Gravel bike

  • Road bike with wider, 28+ mm knobby tires

  • Cyclocross bike

  • Mountain bike

Recommended minimum gearing:

  • 39x27 min.

Recommended shoes:

  • Mountain bike or Cyclocross shoes

Recommended gear:

  • On-course mechanical support and aid stations will be provided, but riders should plan on carrying the following items:

  • CO2 or pump

  • Spare tube(s)

  • Tire levers

  • Hydration and nutrition

  • Spare clothing

 

Recommended rider:

  • Adventure-seeking bicycle owner!
